The Rhode Island State Senate recently confirmed Governor Daniel McKee’s appointment of HCC attorney Melissa Horne to the State Properties Committee.
The State Properties Committee works with other State agencies to evaluate and approve the acquisition, administration, and disposition of interests in land and other real property in connection with the administration of the State government, the advancement of commerce, and the protection and improvement of the health, welfare, and safety of State residents.
As one of two representatives of the public on the Committee, Melissa will utilize her background in business law to evaluate and advise on a wide variety of proposals ranging from the purchase of buildings for use as homeless shelters to agreements for the use of State buildings as movie sets to the sale of excess State property.
